Ukraine

Our leadership at Southwest Christian Church would like to encourage you to participate in a prayer initiative that will start today and go through Easter Sunday, April 17. The Russian war against Ukraine began on February 24th. At 2:24 pm each day, we are asking you to read and reflect on Psalm 27:1-3 Of David.
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

Then, after reading that text, take some time to pray for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people:

  1. Pray for peace and an end to the Russian war against Ukraine.
  2. Pray for the people of Ukraine. Pray for those sheltering and pray for those who are trying to evacuate. Pray for their suffering and loss.
  3. Pray for President Zelensky. Pray for God to give him courage, wisdom, and discernment.
  4. Pray for the church in Ukraine. Pray that God would use his church in a mighty way.
  5. Pray for Berdyansk (the Powells home for 22 years) and the surrounding towns and villages.
