February 13 was “Football Sunday” at Southwest where we were invited to participate by wearing our favorite football team gear. A favorite of the day was Buddy Scott in his original University of Georgia Letterman’s jacket from when he played baseball there – “back in the day”. We were encouraged and challenged by the two video interviews with Dan Orlovsky and Buddy Curry. Both men made it clear that it is possible to be a follower of Jesus and a passionate athletic competitor. They also talked about the need for mentors and others to encourage and disciple us in our daily walk with Jesus.
